Geological society to host luncheon in Fort Worth

The Fort Worth Geological Society (FWGS) will be holding a luncheon this January at the Petroleum Club of Fort Worth.

The FWGS January 2020 Luncheon is an event where attendees can interact with others interested in geology over a buffet. An educational presentation will be provided during the luncheon by Dr. Majie Fan, teaching guests about the Paleozoic subsidence history of the Fort Worth Basin. The use of structure and isopach maps have revealed new information on the subject that geologists will no doubt find intriguing. Organizations that hold presentations such as this can use Print shops to make ads for the event.

Dr. Fan currently works as an Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. She has extensively researched landforms around the world like the United States’ Rocky Mountain system and the Tibetan Plateau in Asia. Fan also created the program Geocamp, which introduces students to the work that geoscientists do and shows potential career pathways to becoming a geoscientist.

The FWGS January 2020 Luncheon will be held on Monday, January 13 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Admission for the event will cost each person $35, though it can be lowered to $30 with RSVP. Anybody interested in attending the informational luncheon must RSVP by Thursday, January 9.
