Fort Worth museum to host art camp

The Sid Richardson Museum will be holding a week-long art program in Fort Worth for children in July.

The Summer Art Camp is a creative activity where kids can work on their own artistic projects under the guidance of an experienced local artist. The pieces made during the camp will use a variety of artistic processes. Campers will also learn about the collection of paintings in the Sid Richardson Museum. During the final day of camp, a reception for parents will be held where the children’s art is displayed and their creative accomplishments are celebrated.

The instructor for the summer camp will be Kristen Cochran, an artist from Portland, Oregon who currently resides in Dallas. She has taught at several venues, like The University of Texas and The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Her past exhibitions include To Sometimes Disappear and Fierce. Cochran’s art has been featured in galleries such as the Nasher Sculpture Center, The NARS Foundation, and Barry Whistler Gallery.

The art camp will be from Monday, July 11 to Friday, July 15 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. The week-long experience will cost children $15, and advanced registration is mandatory for each camper. Museums in charge of summer programs like this may use poster printing to create ads they can place in venues like schools or community centers.
