The Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth will be organizing a sensory-friendly activity throughout April.
Sensory Explorations is a program offered by the Carter Museum, and is designed for families who have children on the autism spectrum. The theme for April will be Flower Power and will virtually showcase four artworks in the museum’s collection. Parents can pick up supplies from the museum to have a safe, at-home art-making experience with their kids. Children will also learn facts about flowers during the program.
The Carter Museum’s Sensory Explorations activity is part of the organization’s Access Events series, which encompasses multiple programs that help people of all ages and abilities to discover art. Artful Moments is a monthly event offered by the museum for those with dementia, and Close Encounters is an activity designed for individuals with little or no vision. Organizations with special programs such as this can advertise their services through flyer printing.
Sensory Explorations will start on April 1 and will continue until April 30. There is no cost to experience the program, though art kits are limited and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. People can register for the program by emailing or calling the museum. Questions about the activity can also be asked through the museum’s email and phone number.
