Fort Worth company takes top prize at Biz Pitch Contest

Eosera Inc., a Fort Worth biotechnology startup, took $50,000 home at the annual North Texas Business Pitch Contest in late November.

The contest was hosted by Comerica Bank and the Dallas Entrepreneur Center, and named three finalists and one winner out a pool of 150.

The company is led by cofounder and CEO Elyse Dickerson, and is currently developing a topical formula to tackle earwax buildup, which is the most likely reason for patients to seek aural medical care. Though the company is still relatively new on the scene, it has already reached the testing stage and is currently working alongside the FDA to set up clinical trials. According to Dickerson, the unrestricted grant will come in very handy.

This year’s Contest, which focused on women-owned and minority-owned businesses, was a rousing success according to those in attendance. Donations were made by a number of local businesses, and included everything from flyer printing and banner printing services, to food and drink.

Judges this year included Global Entrepreneurship Network president Jonathan Ortmans, entrepreneur Charlie Green, and Patricia Kriska, who is a Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business lecturer in entrepreneurship.

Gigi Moore, a Senior VP at Comerica Bank and the Chairwoman of Comerica’s Texas Women’s Forum, commented:

“Our hope is that we help draw attention to the significant contributions to the Dallas – Fort Worth community from women and minority entrepreneurs.”
