The first of three planned apartment projects for Larkspur, The Willow is located on Commerce Street only a few blocks from the Fair Park entrance. The new building, along with Larkspur’s other two planned apartment buildings, will be in the transitional area between Fair Park and Deep Ellum.
This area of Dallas has had no new apartment development, although there are a few older loft conversion buildings nearby along with some townhouses.
The building’s website will be going up soon, according to Carl Anderson of Larkspur Capital, who also said that people would start moving into the 190-unit rental community in January.
With the help of brochure printing services, developers frequently let apartments before construction has been completed.
Over the last two years, Larkspur has been constructing the Willow while also securing other nearby development sites. Anderson explained that the company engaged Omniplan, a Dallas architect firm, to design The Willow. He said:
“We did not want another stucco box. It’s too important an area with historical and architectural context to get it wrong. We are trying to resemble the fabric of Deep Ellum. We are spending on top-tier architecture.”
Amenities in the new building will include a pool deck overlooking downtown, a co-working center, and an indoor-outdoor resident lounge bar.
Rental costs for a 618-square-foot studio unit at the Willow will start at $1,640.
