The new executive director for the nonprofit promoting and supporting the downtown Dallas cultural district, Silkey-Jones brings with her 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, higher education, civic engagement, and arts administration. She recently served as Dallas College’s School of Creative Arts, Entertainment and Design’s vice provost, where she led programming, academic strategy and industry partnerships.
In the news release announcing her new positions Silkey-Jones said:
"The Dallas Arts District is one of America's great cultural neighborhoods — a place where creativity inspires community, strengthens the economy and enriches everyday life. We have an incredible opportunity to elevate the District's national and global profile while creating an even more welcoming, connected and vibrant place for everyone who lives, works and visits here."

Adjacent to Deep Ellum, the 118-acre district, containing 19 cultural institutions, has been dubbed the largest urban contiguous arts district in the country. Recently, the district has chosen a strategic plan that revolves around advocacy, public safety, placemaking, programming, infrastructure, and long-term growth.
Silkey-Jones has received degrees from DePaul University, Roosevelt University, and Harvard University, and serves on a variety of local and national boards for arts and education.
