Earlier this year GLCO tested the waters in Dallas by opening a pop-up store at Forty Five Ten. The “waters” were buoyant and the pop-up proved to be very popular with area shoppers – so much so that the decision was made to open the company’s first Lone Star location.
This fall, GLCO will open a freestanding retail store at 3109 Knox St., adjacent to the Apple store. This will be the fifth official location for the company.
In a press release Garrett Leight explained:
“I’ve always felt that there was a place for GLCO in Dallas, especially after becoming more familiar with the area and the culture.”
Garrett Leight got its start in Venice Beach, California and the company’s Dallas location will, as per its name and origin, maintain a California ambiance. Whether the Golden State vibe will extend to its Business Cards and Letterheads is unclear, but West of West, an architecture firm based in Los Angeles and Portland, has been engaged to provide a California-inspired design.
The new store will have a lab capable of providing customization on demand, as well as filling one-hour lens prescriptions. Additionally, patrons may choose a unique tint for their custom-dyed lenses.
