New eatery coming to prime Deep Ellum location

One of the biggest business locations in Deep Ellum is getting a new tenant, a restaurant-bar called ‘Off the Cuff’.

The Dallas neighborhood is where the city’s entertainment and art venues are primarily located. The location where Off the Cuff will open this month is 2901 Elm Street, a site that has seen a series of businesses come and go.

Just prior to an opening, many businesses find themselves making last-minute calls to their Print shops to order any items they had forgotten

Operating as a “bar with food”, rather than the other way around, the menu will be small, concentrating on sandwiches, wraps, and burgers. Off the Cuff’s burgers will be served upside down. A few select cocktails will be served, as well as six local draft beers.

The idea for building hamburgers upside down first gained attention in 2016 and later gained a second life in November 2018 when it was brought up by a ‘life hacks’ expert. The reasoning is that since the top portion of the bun is thicker, that is where the topping and condiment should be placed.

A priority for team Off the Cuff is keeping is food and beverages affordable. The menu contains nothing over $13, which means for under $25 patrons can purchase a drink as well as a sandwich. Opening sometime in February, the new restaurant will be open to 2:00 am every day of the week.
