According to a recently released study conducted by SmartAsset, where people get their post-secondary education will affect their starting pay rate, and two Dallas universities are in the top 10 for the state.
The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) and Southern Methodist University (SMU) graduates command some of the highest starting salaries in the state. UTD was ninth on the list with an average starting pay of $53,600, while SMU students started at an average of $55,000 upon graduation.
The above is an example of information that institutions of higher learning like to publicize and submit for inclusion for their admission flyer printing.
Salary ranking is just one of several yardsticks SmartAsset used to quantify which colleges and universities provided the best value. Other areas looked at were tuition, scholarship and grants, student living costs, and retention rates.
At the top of the starting salary list is Rice University located in Houston at an average starting salary of $65,700. Rice’s $42,253 average tuition and its living costs amounting to $16,000, along with its average of scholarships and grants adding up to $36,192, puts it at No. 1 on the ‘best value’ list as well.
Including the average starting salary in this study is especially important in this era of overwhelming amounts of student debt.
