Food, drinks, and waves in Deep Ellum

A new enterprise, Urban Entertainment Concepts, is opening its first Goodsurf location at the former site of Sandbar Cantina in Deep Ellum.

Since the beginning of May, Denver-based Urban Entertainment has been filling positions for the early June opening of Goodsurf. Among the positions being hired for are line cooks, barbacks, servers, hosts, bartenders, front-of-house and back-of-house managers, and “wave attendants.”

Banner printing services are used by entrepreneurs to announce where a new business will be, as well as when it will open.

Urban purchased the rights for North American and Caribbean uses of patented wave technology developed by the Germany-based company “Citywave.” Featuring a standing wave as high as six feet tall with deep water behind and in front of it, Citywave’s technology provides what it describes as:

“…perfect wave conditions and the most authentic surf experience.”

For those who find the prospect of a six-foot-wave overwhelming, fear not, as wave height, wave shape, and water volume are all adjustable by the Citywave operator. This allows beginners to work their way up to the more challenging wave experience, as well as permitting those more adventurous souls and those with more experience navigating waves to have the experience they crave as well.

The hospitality consultancy group Ring on Hook is to be in charge of designing the food and beverage selection that Goodsurf will offer.

Goodsurf is expected to open in Deep Ellum, Dallas in June.
