Decadent Dub Team to reunite in Dallas in March

The Kessler Theater will welcome Dallas group Decadent Dub Team at a reunion concert at its Oak Cliff venue later this year.

Formed in 1986, Decadent Dub Team earned national acclaim when Dr. Dre found one of the group’s tracks on the compilation album ‘The Sound of Deep Ellum’. The album was put together by Kim Buie, an A&R technician from Island Records. Dr. Dre remixed the track, which featured on the soundtrack of the 1988 film ‘Colors’. It also happened to be the first remix Dr. Dre had done.

Jeff Liles, The Kessler's artistic director and talent buyer, said:

"It's going to be a fun night. Back when we were all after a record deal and trying to get our music into movies or TV shows back when the music business existed some 25-30 years ago, but now the motivation is just to have fun."

The reunion was the idea of Wordspace, a nonprofit literary arts organization. The group also has put on events featuring John Waters, Dan Savage and Amy Sedaris.

Mavis Staples, Moon Waves, and the Suffers are among other bands that will be playing at The Kessler Theater this year.
