Dubbed DA7, the $20m IBX will provide support for interconnection in one of the most network-dense location Equinix services, the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The new data center will enable Cloud service, including Equinix Cloud Exchange, and leading network providers to be available to 275+ new customers.
In the press release announcing the news of its new data center, Americas Equinix President Karl Strohmeyer said:
"We have seen tremendous growth in the Dallas market and DA7 will give businesses increased flexibility to support their ever-changing IT needs."
Considering the high demand for the services they are offering, Equinix’s anticipates having no difficulty enticing new clients to signing up for its service. Nonetheless, a good marketing service can be often helpful in finding prospective clients for specialized services such as this, as can a graphic design company.
Initially, the new facility will have 300 cabinets, with expectations to increase to 800 cabinets by the second quarter of 2016. Once fully operational, a full 40,000 sq. ft. of colocation space will be available for use. The new facility, when combined with the company’s other five data centers in Dallas will give Equinix colocation space exceeding 214,000 sq. ft.
