Celebrations of seafood set to come to shore

Several establishments are joining together to host this year’s Salute to King Creole Crawfish Festival.

The second annual festival celebrating Creole food and culture in Dallas will take place this month with an all-you-can-eat Creole's tastings. Attendees will not have to stretch their imaginations very far to feel they are in the bayous of Louisiana, with the combination of Cajun food and live Zydeco music advertised.

Although held at Chicken Scratch and The Foundry, the Crawfish Festival is hosted by not only those two establishments, but also by Smoke Plano, Spork, and Bar Belmont. Chicken Scratch and The Foundry are both owned by Turn the Tables Hospitality and share an almost three-acre compound in which several tasting stations will be located.

While enjoying the “swampadelic” music of Dr. Zog and his Zydeco band, attendees can stroll about partaking of the various stations in whatever order they choose. The possible choices will include an Andouille Sausage Station, an Oyster Station and Gumbo Station, and naturally a Low Country Boil Station where ticket holders can gorge themselves on farm-raised Louisiana crawfish.

The Crawfish Festival takes place 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Sunday, April 19. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. All food is included in the ticket price, and drinks will be available for purchase.
