On May 7, American Airlines made history with the inaugural flight of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The Dreamliner’s first flight took place before sunrise from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (D/FW) for a quick trip to Chicago’ O’Hare International Airport. Excited passengers for the Dreamliner’s first flight began arriving around 5 am.
American Airlines made history again later that morning with the takeoff of its maiden nonstop flight from D/FW to Beijing, China. AA Flight 89 departure time was scheduled at 11:20 am with an anticipated arrival time, after a 13-hour flight, of 2:15 pm on Friday. Although this flight took place with a retrofitted Boeing 777-200, the 787 Dreamliner will also be used for the D/FW to Beijing flights starting in June.
Some of the upgrades that distinguish the Dreamliner from American Airlines 777 include holding more passengers and increased fuel efficiency. While those changes benefit the airline, passenger amenities are present as well. Those who fly on the Dreamliner will enjoy noise cancellation technology, wider seats, improved cabin lighting, and carry-on storage, as well as windows that can be tinted with the touch of a button.
American Airlines' promotion of their Dreamliner to the flying public may include travelers on their other planes. Brochure printers can be used to help educate those air travelers about the amenities the Dreamliner has to offer.
