A recent announcement revealed that Waymo robotaxis will soon be dispatched in three Texas cities, including Dallas, and a single Florida city, thereby expanding the company’s fleet of self-driving cars to 10 of the country’s major metropolitan markets.
An example of how far ahead Waymo is in the autonomous driving industry, Amazon-owned Zoox and Tesla are still testing their autonomous driving vehicles in just a few U.S. cities, while Waymo provides over 400,000 robotaxis rides weekly.
Often the simplest form of advertisement is the most effective, which explains the popularity of using flyer printing services to promote new businesses and their services.
The company operates its own ride-hailing app in most of the cities where it has a presence with Atlanta and Austin being the exceptions. In those two cities the robotaxis are summoned via Uber’s ride-hailing service. In Dallas, Waymo will be partnering with Avis and providing ride-hailing service with the Waymo app.
A new multi-year partnership between Waymo and the Avis Budget Group will handle the management of the fleet of robotaxis helping the company get up to speed in this new-to-them market. In addition to Avis’ end-to-end fleet management services, the company will also handle vehicle readiness, maintenance, infrastructure and general depot operations.
The company’s four new cities, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Orlando will initially only provide its ride-hailing app to a limited number of residents but will eventually be available to all the cities’ residents.
