Spaghetti Warehouse trolley scores new home

The vintage trolley that was used as part of the Dallas Spaghetti Warehouse’s decor has secured a temporary home where it can undergo renovations before taking up permanent residence in the neighborhood it helped to develop.

The trolley, due to the difficulty of transporting it, has remained in the former location of the Spaghetti Warehouse after its closing in 2019. When the trolley’s purchaser backed out, the Junius Heights Historic District was bequeathed it, but needed a place where it could be renovated. Orr Reed Architectural Co. a salvage store located a few miles from downtown Dallas, stepped up to provide that space.

The Junius Heights Historic District is particularly eager to save the trolley because it was one of the original streetcars that was instrumental in the establishment of the East Dallas and Junius Heights neighborhoods. This specific trolley holds special significance for the group as it has ‘Junius Heights’ on its front as its next stop.

One of the few that remain from that era, the trolley wheels and motor have long since been removed. The group’s plan for it is to become an interactive museum attraction where visitors can sit and get a feel for the time when it was operational. The trolley is presently in the process of being disassembled in preparation for its move to its temporary home for renovation this fall.
