The Los Angeles-based landscape architect firm Studio-MLA has been selected to design a new Community Park where a 1,000-space parking lot now stands in Fair Park.
Fair Park, a Dallas National Historic Landmark that is made up of 277-acres, is where the State Fair of Texas is held every year. Transforming the parking lot’s 11-acres into a community park is the first step in the Fair Park Master Plan Update.
Hotels find that with the help of brochure printing services they can inform their guests of interesting location and events.
A nationwide search was conducted to find the ideal landscape design firm for the job, and out of the 30 applicants, Studio-MLA was deemed the best fit. The firm’s founder, Mia Lehrer, promotes the protection and preservation of urban waterways in addition to advocating for green schoolyards.
Studio-MLA will not be working alone on the project. On the team with will be Allison Grace Williams, an internationally acclaimed architect; FAIA and landscape architects Studio Outside here in Dallas.
So far there are no details concerning what the planned Community Park will contain, but it likely will have a large lawn, a small gathering pavilion and tables and chairs that can be moved around.
Other features that have a high likelihood of being included in the new park are a remembrance gardens, naturalized plantings and an interactive water feature in a children’s play area.
