Two DFW women make Americas Richest Self-Made Women list

Two women from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex are among a dozen Texans on Forbes list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women for 2023.

The magazine released its ranking of the wealthiest female entrepreneurs this month. To be considered for the Forbes list, a woman had to accumulate her wealth rather than winning or inheriting it. In total, 12 Texas women were included on the list, with fortunes coming from such sectors as insurance, home healthcare, jewelry design, aviation logistics, and dating apps. The judicious use of Print shops can contribute significantly to a start-up’s success.

The wealth of the self-made women on the list has gone up since last year. According to a release by Forbes:

"Bolstered in part by a rebound in the stock market, [the richest 100 female entrepreneurs] are cumulatively worth a record $124 billion, up nearly 12% from a year ago."

No. 29 on the list is Fort Worth resident Robyn Jones with a net worth of approximately $830 million. She earned her wealth (and hence a spot on the list) from Goosehead Insurance Agency LLC, a property and casualty insurance firm she founded in 2003. The company went public in 2018 and now has close to 1,000 franchised offices.

Dallas’s own April Anthony was not far behind in the No. 34 spot on the Forbes list with a reported net worth of $740 million. She made her fortune from the Encompass Health Corp home health and hospice division she founded and sold to HealthSouth last year for $750 million.
