Niche, an education review and ranking website, has announced its 2027 best U.S. colleges ranking and Southern Methodist University (SMU) took the No. 1 spot in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex as well as the sixth best in the state.
Niche arrived at its annual rankings by comparing more than 4,000 colleges and universities using the following criteria: value, academics, student life, and career preparation as well as some others. A letter grade is given to each school across 14 metrics. Two new metrics have been added this year, future readiness and student wellness.
Universities have numerous uses for local printing services with branding and customization considerations always at the forefront.
Yet another new feature for this year’s rankings is the “Institutional Success Score”, which assigns each college one of 10 mission-based categories. Schools are then compared to: “outcomes aligned with that mission”.
Among the 10 mission-based categories are social mobility-focused colleges, research institutions and religious institutions.

In addition to its impressive ranking in the Lone Star State, SMU also ranked among Best Christian Colleges as 5th in the country as well as being the 67th best private university in the United States. Additionally, Southern Methodist University came in at 118th in the overall ranking for 2027’s Best Colleges in America.
