The Charles Schwab Challenge Colonial, which was postponed from its original dates of May 21-24, may be the first tournament played when the PGA tour resumes in June.
Dallas golf enthusiasts have reason to celebrate. The Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth has been rescheduled for June 11-14. However, there will be adjustments to accommodate COVID-19 precautions. Although no official notice has been given with regard to onsite spectators, in all likelihood they will not be permitted on the course – at least in the early events in the PGA season.
Among sports, golf is arguably the most tradition-rich, due perhaps to its early start compared to other professional sports. That the prestigious PGA is willing to make adaptations to its usual way of doing business due to the pandemic should encourage other professional sports to follow suit and make the changes necessary to resume consumable competition.
Promotional Products have always been a part of sports, particularly at the professional level, and are sometimes as highly prized as the memorabilia fans may purchase.
The Charles Schwab Challenge is played at the Colonial course in Fort Worth and having the first live televised event held there will benefit the whole Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Local vendors, advertisers and even sports bars may potentially profit, as well as the network and its stations airing the event.
