Filipino fried chicken restaurant coming to Dallas area

An international chain restaurant based in the Philippines and specializing in chicken has plans to launch its inaugural Dallas location.

Jollibee has big plans for expansion in the North American market where it already has 46 locations in the U.S. and two in Canada. Dallas’ first location will be in nearby Plano in a space that used to be occupied by Pollo Tropical at 1016 Preston Road. The chain has 230 international restaurants scattered across 14 countries.

The renovations at the Plano site have been confirmed by a spokesperson from the company’s Illinois office. Work will begin in January 2020 with April being targeted for the restaurant’s opening.

Companies with mascots – Jollibee’s is a bee – often appear in logo designs

Fried chicken is Jollibee’s signature dish, served along with steamed rice and gravy on the side. The chicken can also be purchased as a meal with corn, mashed potatoes, and other sides. The chicken is also available by the bucket, the design of which resembles a KFC bucket with its red exterior.

In addition to fried chicken, diners can order a chicken sandwich, four burgers and its oddly amusing spaghetti of sliced hot dogs and marinara sauce dish called “Jolly Spaghetti”. Several traditional Filipino dishes are included on the menu as well.

To reach its goal of being among the world’s top five restaurant companies, the Jollibee Foods Corporation, parent company of Jollibee, plans to launch 250 locations in North America by 2023.
