Eatery with Mexico City-style tacos headed for North Dallas

A small Dallas-based chain called Chilangos Tacos will open a location near the Galleria Dallas in North Dallas.

The taqueria, called Chilangos Tacos, will be the latest addition to a small Dallas-based chain that specializes in Mexico City-style tacos. The concept, which first debuted in 2019 is the brainchild of the team of chef Joel Mendoza and SMU grad Jon Garay.

The first Chilangos Tacos was opened by Dallas Love Field on Harry Hines featuring refreshingly fruity margaritas, authentic tacos and quesadillas. From there, the chain grew by opening a location in Plano, one in old east Dallas, and the AT&T Discovery District, plus an out-of-state location in Nashville, Tennessee’s Assembly Food Hall. The new location will be housed in what used to be a 7-Eleven store.

Banner printing services help build excitement for new enterprises prior to their opening, as well as drawing attention to them once they have opened.

The company’s menu standouts include thick in-house-made tortillas with a pliable texture, fresh salsas, Mexican cajeta filled churros coated with cinnamon sugar, and their signature drink, a mango chamoy margarita.

Per a company spokesperson, the North Dallas Chilangos Tacos is scheduled to open in early November and while it will be the next addition to the chain, it will not be the last; a Garland location is slated to open in early 2025.
