Dallas scores high among winter travel destinations

Travelers seeking warm weather destinations have warmed up to Texas in general and the Dallas metropolitan area in particular.

Each year WalletHub evaluates cold and warm weather destination based on 37 factors across six categories including travel costs and hassles, weather, local costs, safety, warm weather activities and attractions. In 2024, the website ranked the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington area in the No.3 spot on its annual analyst of the biggest U.S. metropolitan areas for warm weather travel destination.

Print shops assist businesses specifically catering to tourism or seasonal residents.

Out of a possible 100 points the DFW garnered 68.08, thereby breaking out of the No.4 it had held for three years. The Dallas metro area did best in the “travel costs and hassles” and “weather” categories with DFW Airport and the regions nearly year-round sunshine earning it second place in each.

Dallas also did particularly well in relative affordability, ranking No. 8 in “local costs”. In other ranking the area took the No.12 in the attractions ranking, No.13 for warm weather activities and No. 28 in safety out of the 69 metro areas evaluated.

The No. 1 and No. 2 spots went to the Las Vegas and San Diego metro areas with DFW being followed by fourth place Austin and fifth place Phoenix.

By states Florida garnered the most spots on the warm weather destination list with 10 metro areas, followed by Texas with nine spots on the list and California with 8.
