Dallas office workers projected job growth ranks third in U.S.

A recently finished projection for 2020 office job growth by CBRE, a commercial real estate services business, has Dallas with the second highest growth rate in the state and the third highest in the country.

CBRE predicts a 2.6% increase in Austin office jobs in 2020 versus 2019, just squeezing by San Francisco’s 2.5% anticipated growth. Texas also took third and fourth place Dallas (2.1%) and Houston (1.9%), while Orlando, Florida can in fifth with 1.7%.

The U.S. markets studied by CBRE for its predictions included only those with a minimum office space of 37.5 million square feet. ‘Office jobs’, in the case of this study, encompass professional services, legal, and tech sectors.

In a release from CBRE, its head of office research for America, Ian Anderson, said:

“Tech, talent, and low taxes continue to fuel Texas’ rising status as an inevitable, leading force in the U.S. economy.”

According to the CBRE, office job growth was stronger in 2019 than the estimates for 2020. Dallas led with 5.7% last year, with San Francisco following with 5.2% increase, suggesting notably slower growth over the next 12 months.
