Dallas-Fort Worth shopping mall to bring Sistine Chapel up close

Irving Mall will be partially transformed, for a time, into the inside of the Sistine Chapel.

The mall will be the site of the “Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition”, an international touring experience. The exhibition highlights 34 reproductions, nearly life-like in size and of museum-quality of the Sistine Chapel’s frescoes. Included in the exhibition is “The Creation of Adam” and “The Last Judgement”.

Unlike Michelangelo’s original works of art, the reproductions, although of their original size can be seen at eye level. The exhibition gives viewers the opportunity to see details in master artist’s work even down to the individual brushstrokes.

Immersive experiences such as the Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition, which give viewers an up-close look at masterpieces have become an emerging trend in the art world. The mall, which is near DFW Airport will host the Sistine Chapel Experience from February 4 through March 20, 2022. Times will be Wednesday through Saturdays 10 am – 6 pm and Sundays 12 – 6 pm. A visit to the exhibit takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
