Bistro to open in former Boulevardier location

Chef Peja Krstic, owner of the Vietnamese-fusion restaurant Mot Hai Ba in East Dallas, is opening a new concept eatery called Pillar.

This will be at 408 N. Bishop Avenue, which was previously the home of Boulevardier, a favorite Dallas restaurant. After 12 years of operation, Boulevardier’s closing in March gave Krstic the opportunity he was looking for in a neighborhood he had targeted for his business.

New businesses often turn to banner printing services to help them promote their opening.

The motif for Pillar, according to Krstic, will be that of a quintessential neighborhood place that is casual yet cosmopolitan in line with the Bishop Arts neighborhood. The name “Pillar” is linked to the idea of the establishment becoming a “pillar of the community”. Krstic explained his vision for the new eatery:

"Probably the best way to describe it would be a modern American bistro, with some French and Italian influences. My cooking style is 'culinary gypsy' — I like to cook everything, I don't see any boundaries. It'd be someplace that could graduate from neighborhood spot to a place where people go for pre-theater meals and celebrations."

For nearly a decade, Krstic has operated the seasonal contemporary Mot Hai Bas, which is a Best Restaurant and Best Neighborhood Restaurant Tastemaker Awards nominee. In addition, he and his wife opened Ichi Dallas in the AT&T’s Discovery District, an Asian-sushi restaurant in 2020.
