An amount of $2 million is being offered by the Southeastern New England Defense Industry Alliance (SENEDIA) based in Middletown for reimbursement subsidies for training for the New England submarine shipbuilding workforce.
Employers who are eligible for these funds can receive $30,000 to train their employees, with up to $10,000 for each trainee. The funding is available for companies in the New England states. More information about such industrial skills training can be made possible with brochure printing. Applications for this funding are currently opened and will be reviewed on a first-come first-serve basis and will be available until all the funding has expired.
Executive director of SENEDIA, Molly Donohue Magee, said that this investment in employees will ensure the strength of the industry in the future. Magee added that the demand for highly skilled workers in the shipbuilding industry of submarines will continue to rise so that employers should look to this opportunity to increase the skills of their people and advance the economic future of their companies.
There will be a webinar on Thursday October 21 at 9:00 for employers who are interested in this skills training program. Team members from SENEDIA will be on hand to walk companies through the application process and accessing funds and help them to determine if they are eligible for these funds.
