University to augment portfolio management course

The Portfolio Management course offered at the College of Business Management at East Stroudsburg University (ESU) will be updated and enhanced this fall.

Chief investment officer, director of fixed income, and senior vice president at The Pennsylvania Trust Company, Jonathan Heckscher, will be joining the instructors of the course to add real-world and relevant experiences to the classroom. The addition of Heckscher to the course is being made possible through a collaboration between the College and the Student Activity Association at ESU.

Dean of the College of Business Management, Sylvester Williams, said that this partnership will make an already outstanding class even better. Heckscher will come to the class every other week and teach valuation principles and portfolio analysis. There will be group presentations made at the end to of the class, which will be viewed by Heckscher and other professionals on his investment team. Major developments such as this are often promoted to students through brochure printing.

As there is a student-managed portfolio component to the course, Williams added that prior to enrolling in the course, students need to secure Bloomberg Certification. Having this is important to those looking for a degree in a business-related field.

The Pennsylvania Trust Company is in the Greater Philadelphia area and offers financial planning, investment management, and philanthropic and estate planning to help people grow their wealth.
