Opening at the beginning of this month at the Madelon Powers Gallery at East Stroudsburg University is an installation and performance by Sibyl Kempson, a theater artist.
Videos and artifacts from work performed by Kempson and her group at the Whitney Museum of Art are on display, focusing on the equinoxes and solstices that took place from March 2016 through December 2018. Such exhibits often use Print shops to create materials with more details and background about the artists and what is in display.
Kempson formed her group, the 7 Daughters of Eve Thtr. & Perf. Co., at the City University of New York Graduate Center in 2015. The mission of the group is to use installation, ritual, and performance to show how of feminism, religion, and science intersect in the context of human and non-human history. The group performed their first piece that year in New York City at the Abrons Arts Center. The group has also performed elsewhere in New York City and in Boston.
As part of this exhibit, there will be an Intuitive Research Workshop presented by Kempson next month. The workshop will focus on how to enhance the creative process for all media types, including writing, composing, and visual and performing art. The workshop will be held in the Kemp Library on campus from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, on Tuesday, March 3.
