Talen Energy aims to sell renewable energy arm

Allentown-based Talen Energy has the intention of selling Talen Renewable Energy LLC on, with the likely purchaser being Energy Power Partners.

An agreement has been drawn that could affect 25 projects within four states. Print companies in Stroudsburg may be used to inform people about the implications of the deal, which could be done during the course of the winter.

George Lewis, a spokesperson at Talen Energy, has told Lehigh Valley Business:

“The acquisition is a fit for what they do, for what their primary business is. These are smaller scale projects. It’s not part of the core focus of business of Talen Energy.”

According to Lewis, the general idea is that Talen Energy will concentrate on big projects after the deal goes through. This does not mean that it will refuse to look at any renewable initiatives, but it does suggest that it will be aspiring to take on substantial challenges. The value of the deal has not been revealed as yet.

The renewable wing of Talen Energy has worked on a variety of developments. These have been located in New Hampshire, New Jersey, Vermont, and Pennsylvania.

At the level of the region, Talen Energy has completed work at Williams Township, Forks Township, and Allentown. The initiatives differed in their nature and included a landfill development, as well as a solar installation.
