Stroudsburg teens invited to come to conservation camp

Students from Stroudsburg and the surrounding communities who have an interest in the environment are invited to sign up for a camp that has been designed just for them.

The Monroe County Conservation Camp, which is being held at Stoney Acres, will give those who take part an opportunity to learn more about the natural world and the different plants and animals that reside there. It is open to those from age 14 on up to anyone who will be graduating from high school this year.

The event has been held each summer for the past 42 years, and offers everything from the study of ponds and streams, to bird banding, confidence/ropes courses, trap shooting, archery, bird banding, and fishing. Those who take part will also be able to participate in a two-day canoe trip along the Delaware River that includes and overnight campout. Brochures can be printed to provide even more information about events such as this. They can be distributed at functions held throughout the local area.

The cost for the Munroe County Conservation camp has been set at $200, which includes both the application fee and camp fee. Further details about the camp, and also scholarship applications for those families that may lack the financial resources for their child to attend, can be found on its website.

The residential camp will run from July 16 until July 23.
