Stroudsburg seeks for new ways to reach out to the world

A new initiative that has been undertaken by Stroudsburg Council will be looking into finding innovative ways to utilize social media.

To help meet this goal, the council set up a new body. Named the Stroudsburg Council Public Relations and Social Media committee, it has been tasked with finding ways of using social media to engage the members of the public with whom there may be a disconnect, and also to use this method to bolster tourism to the downtown core.

Part of the plan is to set up accounts on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and Periscope. The committee feels that those platforms that predominantly use photos are of special interest.

The group will also be investigating and making recommendations about signage used along I-80 that advertises local businesses, museums, and galleries, beyond those for chain restaurants and major attractions that are currently there. It hopes that getting the word out to the public about what makes Stroudsburg special will encourage more people to view it as a destination they want to visit. Graphic design can be used to create signage that catches the attention of drivers as they approach the exits to the area.

Another one of the end goals for the committee is to organize promotions for local businesses so that there can be opportunities for them to support each other and even cross promote.
