Stroudsburg residents urged to Pick Up the Poconos

The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau (PMVB) will hold its sixth clean-up day this April to celebrate Earth Day.

PMVB has been running the Pick up the Poconos campaign since 2018. This is a multi-part litter removal campaign that includes radio and TV advertisements, billboards, news segments, and social media posts. Multimedia campaigns often use Graphic Design Services to present a cohesive message. Pick Up the Poconos has worked with Senator Mario Scavello to write Senate Bill 431, which became Act 62 of 2018 when it passed. The law is designed to cut littering statewide.

PMVB encourages residents of Stroudsburg and other towns in the Poconos to get involved in the campaign by signing up for a clean-up day. The program has included four fall clean-up days and expanded to include a spring clean-up in honor of Earth Day in April 2021. Registration for 2022’s spring is available on the Pocono Mountains website. Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old to participate.

Following the clean-up period, volunteers can attend Monroe County’s Earth Day celebration, where they will be eligible for special door prizes. These events have resulted in more than 18,000 litter Bags being picked up. Litter clean-up focuses on both highways and local roads.

Pick Up the Poconos Spring Cleanup will take place on Saturday, April 23, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, rain or shine.
