Monroe County Conservation District is holding a public Maple Sugaring Day event in East Stroudsburg on two dates next month.
The event will include a tour of the sugarbush at the Meesing Outdoor Site. Attendees will learn about the history of maple syrup and the process of making it. Tour guides will demonstrate how to tap a tree to collect sap and cook the sap to produce syrup. After the tour, attendees can visit the event’s pancake station to taste the maple syrup with homemade pancakes. Organizations often use brochure printing services to provide information at this type of event.
Attendees need to register in advance by calling the Conservation District at 570-629-3061. The cost is $6 per adult and $4 per child under 12, which can be paid by cash or check on the day of the tour. Tours are 90 minutes long and will depart several times between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Attendees will spend the entire time outdoors and should dress accordingly. They should wear comfortable shoes for walking on unpaved trails. Attendees should also be aware that the site’s address does not work with GPS navigation, but written directions are available on the Conservation District website.
The two Maple Sugaring Public Days will be held on Saturday, March 4 and Saturday, March 11 at Meesing Outdoor Site.
