A new partnership has been created between East Stroudsburg University (ESU) and Northampton Community College (NCC) that will facilitate seamless access for students of NCC to transfer to ESU for upper level undergraduate and graduate programs.
Called the NCC-ESU Pathway to Success: Stronger Together, students from NCC need to have an associate degree or 60 credit hours of course time, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0, before they can enter a four-year program at ESU. Depending on the sequencing of their courses and the number of transfer credits, students will enter ESU as a junior. They need not complete any more than an additional 60 credit hours unless they are in a program that may have licensing or certification requirements. Kenneth Long, interim president of ESU, said that the two colleges are aligned in their dedication and passion to make this a smooth transition for students going from a community college to a four-year college. He added that part of the agreement envisions classes from NCC occasionally being held on the campus of ESU, and faculty from ESU teaching at NCC. Dr. Mark Erickson, president of NCC, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership and hopes it will expand access to higher education for NCC students.
