Stroudsburg residents who are interested in finding carpool partners for their commute to work will now have a new resource to help them find a perfect match.
Commuter Services of Pennsylvania has set up a service that matches riders with those looking for passengers. It is confidential, and will pair people up based on a variety of factors, including such matters as work schedules, taste in music, whether or not they are happy with the others in the car smoking or eating, and allergies.
According to Commuter Services Executive Director Matt Boyer, everyone who might wish to do so is free to have their details enrolled into the database at any time. He further remarked that they can also put together a “vanpool” where anywhere from 8 to 15 riders come together. He also pointed out that this can save money of gas, wear on their own vehicle, and also insurance. His service is able to identify those who might wish to do so, and then get a quote for a company that leases vans who can help them to get a vehicle.
Any employer can request to have a presentation for their employees about the benefits of carpooling, and firm that provides printing services can produce materials that can be handed out during such an event.
In cases of emergency, the Commuter Services will help those who use a carpool to get home should such a situation arise.
