A partnership between the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau (PMVB) and the hotel, restaurant and tourism management (HRTM) program of East Stroudsburg University (ESU) will enable six students to more closely explore the industry this fall.
Dean of the College of Business and Management at ESU, Sylvester Williams, J.D., said that six students will be selected to be part of the internships at member locations of the PMVB and will focus on data analytics and its applications. Dr. Williams added that the students selected for these internships will benefit from real-world business experience in the HRTM industry. He said they will be able to apply the material they learn in the classroom with material developed by PMVB based on current conditions in the market. Students will receive a stipend during their training. Printing services can be used to create Booklets and other materials that students can take away with them from such experiences.
The President and CEO of PMVB, Chris Barrett, said that students selected for this internship will have a background in statistics, an understanding of data analytics, and knowledge of the hospitality industry. Prior to the start of the internship, there will an orientation for two weeks and a tour of the property of the PMVB. Barrett added that the internship will be like that of a manager trainee.
