Maple syrup season returns to Stroudsburg region

The Monroe County Conservation District is hosting two maple syrup events for the public in East Stroudsburg this March.

The Maple Sugaring Day will include a 90-minute tour of the Meesing sugarbush. Participants will learn about the history of the region, starting with that of local Native American communities followed by early settlers. There will be a demonstration of how to tap a maple tree to get sap and how to cook that sap into syrup. After the tour, pancakes will be served so participants can taste the maple syrup.

The cost to participate is $6 per adult and $4 per child, which needs to be paid by cash or check. Those planning to attend should call the Conversation District at 570-629-3061 to reserve their spots. Organizations often use flyer printing services to promote their seasonal events. The entire event will be outdoors, so participants should dress for the weather, including comfortable and sturdy shoes for walking on a defined but unpaved trail.

The Monroe County Conservation District is a state government agency that works to preserve nature and educate the public. This includes hosting events for both kids and adults.

Public Maple Sugaring Days are this Saturday, March 1 and the following Saturday, March 8. There will be two sessions each day starting at 9:30 am and 2:00 pm.
