The Military Friendly School designation for 2021-2022 has been granted to East Stroudsburg University (ESU). The university is one of 747 schools that earned the designation out of over 1,200 applications.
Announcements of such designations are often celebrated throughout a campus and the community with banner printing.
Along with input from the Military Friendly Advisory Council of independent leaders in the military recruitment and higher education community, it was Viqtory, a military marketing company, that determined the criteria, methodology, and weightings for the designation. The combination of a logic-based scoring assessment with government and agency public data sources and survey responses from the participating institutions defined the final ratings. Among the criteria were the ability of institutions to meet thresholds for job placement, repayment of loans, degree persistence, and student retention.
Assistant director of veterans’ services, June Pepe, expressed her pride in the support that ESU offers to student veterans. She said that among the services which the college provides are bringing in guest speakers, helping with obtaining grants and scholarships, and providing a safe space where student can share their experiences. National Director of Military Partnerships, Military Friendly, Kayla Lopez, added that colleges and universities which become Military Friendly schools show true commitment and dedication in their efforts.
The designation of ESU as part of the Military Friendly Schools list will be published in the May issue of G.I. Jobs magazine.
