College to host hospitality speaker series

The hospitality, recreation, and tourism management of East Stroudsburg University (ESU) is holding a special series of speakers this week, designed to connect students with industry professionals.

Such special talks are often promoted throughout a community with poster printing.

Executive director of Upper Midwest, Tom Olson, and Jim Butler, Ph.D., chief executive officer of Club Benchmarking, will be the featured speakers for this month.

Olson is a popular speaker on a variety of topics involving the management of private clubs, and has a decade of experience in the leadership of private clubs. He studied business at St. Cloud State University. Butler earned his Ph.D. from Iowa State University in hospitality. In addition to his research on club member attachment and loyalty and data science, he has a great deal of experience with gated communities and private clubs. Their talk will be online at 2:00 pm tomorrow, October 27th.

Manager of the Adventure Center at SkyTop Lodge, Zack Meister, will conclude the series in November. He started his career as an intern at the Adventure Center at Skytop Lodge, after which he became assistant manager,then manager. The focus of his talk will be on his work experience and the importance of sustainability for his department and the operation of any business. His talk will be online at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 5th.
