The India in Focus showcase of India-focused arts and culture is taking place in Pittsburgh beginning next month, and will run until November. It is presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
Events will be taking place all over the Cultural District in venues such as the Byham Theater, the 707 Penn Gallery, and the Cultural Trust Education Center. There will be dance and music performances, theatrical productions, and art exhibits.
The performers who will be participating this year are set to include DJ Reich, the Nrityagram Dance Ensemble, and the Aakash Odedora Company. Exhibitions by visual artist Hetain Patel, whose work includes sculpture, video, and photography, will be present. PLUS one, a group that presents large-scale installations, sound works, and prints, will make an appearance too.
This six-week festival is set to present the best in Indian-inspired and created works of art to an audience that may not be aware of the participating artists. It will also give the artists an opportunity to become better known in the community.
Pittsburgh art fans will no doubt be interested in finding out about this event and all of the various performances and exhibitions. Local brochure printers may provide advertising materials.
India in Focus will take place in Pittsburgh from September 25 until November 9, although some of the exhibitions will run for longer. To get the latest information about this festival, call 412-325-7723.
