Pittsburgh garden welcomes return of May sale

For almost nine decades, the Phipps May Market has offered Pittsburgh gardeners a wealth of options, and it will once again be helping to keep local gardens looking their best.

The 89th installment of this popular market will take place on Mother's Day weekend, and it will be open to the public, free of charge. It will be filled with plants for both indoors and out, and there will be other items in the mix as well.

The activity will provide an opportunity to purchase everything from herb and vegetable starts to tropical plants, as well as succulents. Perennials and annuals will be available, and there will be staff on hand to offer tips and advice.

Along with the plants, the market will provide space to local small businesses selling horticultural related materials and handmade goods. Local establishments are welcome to submit an application to take part and these will be accepted until next Friday, April 11.

Organizations and businesses that host annual events may find reusable pop-up Banners to be a budget-friendly choice. They can be prepared by area banner printing companies.

The Phipps May Market will be open to the gardening public on May 9 and 10. It can be found at One Schenley Park, and a link with an application form for potential vendors can be accessed through its website.
