Pittsburgh activity to make opera family friendly

Some may think of opera as being somewhat snobby and stuffy, but a Pittsburgh activity is set to turn that idea on its head.

Bitz Opera Factory will be helping to make this musical genre family friendly by hosting a summer fun day in late June. It will be filled with hands- on activities and other fun, and while everyone is welcome, anyone who is younger than high school age will need to bring along a parent or other adult.

The function will offer a sneak peek behind the curtain into an opera performance, including the design and construction of costumes and props. The participants will be able to make their own opera fan, and there will also be a costume shop activity. The attendees can put their singing skills through their paces in the group voice class, and Attack Theatre will facilitate a dance workshop. There will also be a live performance by some local singers.

The run time for this in person activity is three hours. To thank the families for coming out and to help further foster their interest in opera, each family will go home with a swag bag of Promotional Products.

Bitz Opera Factory will be offering this family friendly introduction to this musical genre on June 22nd. It will begin at 12:00 pm. It is scheduled for 2425 Liberty Avenue.
