Music festival sets educational rhythm

The VIA Music and New Media Festival is taking place for five days next month, with Pittsburgh being one of two cities hosting the festival.

The festival is set to feature collaborative performances, exhibitions, and lectures. Workshops will be offered under such topics as new platforms, electronic music compositions, and virtual life drawing.

The kickoff is taking place at Cattivo and will feature such musical performers as Badboxes, Depth One, and MikeQ.

There will also be a music conference at Carnegie Melon University and several audio visual showcases. Screenings of films, including ‘From Deep’ and ‘Hybrid Theory’, will add to the entertainment.

Pittsburgh Print companies are usually asked to provide help to organizers of these types of events. This may involve the printing of Brochures for advertising, or poster printing to add decoration to performance and exhibition areas..

The VIA Music and New Media Festival is being held from October 1 to 5 at various venues in the city. An all-access pass is $100, a weekend pass costs $70, and individual tickets range in price from $8 and up.

The opening kickoff event will take place on October 1 starting at 9:00 pm, while the conference will be at Carnegie Melon University on October 3 from 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm, and is free to attend. To learn more about any of the events listed, call 732-598-4430.
