Great Race returns to Pittsburgh this fall

The Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race is returning to the city next month.

The race consists of a 10K run or a 5K run/fitness walk. Awards will be given out in various categories including the top overall male and female in each race. The race will begin at Frick Park and will travel to Point State Park.

Prior to the race, there are a couple of other related events. The Junior Great Race will take place on September 17 at Point State Park. It is for children between the ages of 5 and 12. There is also a Tot Trot for those aged 4 and under and a Diaper Dash.

The Great Race Expo is a two-day event presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. Vendors will be on hand to sell merchandise such as sporting goods. There will also be product samples, health screenings, and various fitness demonstrations. Participants in the Great Race can also pick up their bibs and shirts there.

The event T-Shirts and bibs will most likely be provided by a Pittsburgh printing company.

The Great Race Expo will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center from September 23 to 24. Admission is free. The Great Race will be held on September 25. Fees are $40 per race or $60 for two. Visit the event website for more information.
