Wreaths and swags crafted from evergreen are popular pieces of seasonal decor, and thanks to a virtual event, they will be gracing the doors of many Pittsburgh residences over the holidays.
Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens wants to share the secrets of preparing beautiful garlands and wreaths, and its “Door Decor for the Holidays” online workshop will give the local crafty set some tips and tricks for preparing them for themselves. Both members and non-members are welcome to register, and the fee to participate starts at $25.00.
The instructor will provide a live demonstration of the techniques used in wreath making, and the audience can decide if they would like to try their hand in preparing one for themselves. If they choose to purchase a pre-made one they will be able to use what they have learned to customize using their own items, or they can even opt to just watch, enjoy the show and get into the holiday spirit.
The techniques taught during a workshop like this can be used to craft decor at any time of the year. Copies of written instructions can be prepared by Print shops to give to each registrant in the activity.
This warm welcome to the holiday season will be on offer on December 1. Everyone who registers is asked to log in by 6:30 pm.
