Family-friendly festival will ring in the New Year

Highmark First Night Pittsburgh 2017 is taking place in the Cultural District as we say goodbye to 2016, presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.

The festival will stretch through 14 blocks of the district and there will be events happening that will appeal to people of all ages. There will be outdoor shows by street performers, music and theater performances, and indoor displays of visual arts in local theaters and galleries. Among those who are slated to perform during the evening is the Nigel Hall Band, and more performers will be announced closer to the event.

There will be children’s activities all through the night, the FedEx Ground Parade, and firework displays at 6:00 pm and midnight. Vendors will also be on hand to sell food, arts and crafts and official merchandise. At Midnight there will be a countdown, as well as the raising of the Future of Pittsburgh Ball.

As with other First Night events, alcohol will not be allowed in the venue.

In order to participate in the celebration, attendees must purchase a $10 button. No doubt a Pittsburgh printing company will be asked to help provide them.

First Night Pittsburgh will take place on December 31, beginning at 6:00 pm. For the most up-to-date information about this celebration, visit the official event website.
