Doula course planned for Pittsburgh learners

The comfort and supportive presence of a doula can make a big difference to a woman before, during, and after the birth of her baby. A Pittsburgh training course will teach those who are interested in the profession some of the skills they need to be effective in this role.

The workshop, which can help those who are considering becoming a doula to get their foot on the ladder, is part of becoming DONA International certified. Anyone who would like to attend is encouraged to do so, and the registration fee is $460.

Participants in the course will discover how they can help to provide a good outcome for a woman and her baby. The role of a doula will be discussed, as will what to do when they visit her during the pre- and post-partum period. The students will also talk about relaxation, collaborating with the rest of the birth team, and what to do in case of a difficult birth.

The course fee covers the full three days of training, as well as instructional materials including a manual. Certificates of completion will also be given to each learner at the end of the program, to indicate they have participated, and Stationery printers can both design and Print items like this.

The start date for the Birth Doula Training workshop is March 8, and it will continue on March 9 and 10. It will be offered at 4070 Beechwood Boulevard.
