Hanover fundraiser hits the road in high heels

An evening filled with fun for the whole family will open in August, and attendees will be showing their support for those fleeing domestic violence.

YWCA Hanover is hosting Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, which will challenge community members to take on a walk while wearing high heels. It is intended to be a fun way to raise awareness, and it is especially geared towards men.

The walkers will all take a one-mile-long route while wearing red high heels, and other footwear will also be welcome. They can do so on their own or as part of a team, and each step will make an impact. Monies raised will be utilized in funding YWCA programming aimed at addressing domestic violence. Afterwards, there will be dinner and a presentation of awards, as well as a silent auction, raffles, and fun for the family, including a dunk tank and corn hole.

Not-for-profit events often serve as both funding and awareness raisers, and a poster printing company can be called upon for help. It can offer products and services at various price points, with one for almost every budget.

The 2026 Walk a Mile in Her Shoes celebration will be staged at Moul Field on Friday, August 7. More details, including information for potential sponsors, are available on its ticketing site.
