Rosemont College announces commencement speaker

Commencement speeches usually offer words of wisdom and encouragement to the current year's graduating class, and students participating in Rosemont College's commencement activities this weekend will get to hear words of encouragement from Sylvia DiBona, an alumna of the college's School of Graduate Studies.

During the ceremony, DiBona will also receive an honorary doctoral degree from the college. Universities and colleges with upcoming graduation ceremonies can use Stationery printers to produce the degrees handed out to students during the events.

According to Dr. Sharon Hirsh, the college's president, DiBona has had a lasting impression on families in the region, which includes Bala Cynwyd and much of the Main Line, plus Philadelphia. Dr. Hirsh said:

“It gives me and the college’s trustees great pride to be able to honor Ms. DiBona with an honorary degree and to give her the recognition she so truly deserves for her selfless contributions to the lives of so many.”

DiBona serves as the chairperson on the board of Fred's Footsteps, a charity that was founded in memory of her husband, G. Fred DiBona. She has served as the chair since 2005. The goal of the charity is to help families who are experiencing a financial crisis because of the costs of caring for very ill or injured children.

The ceremony will start at 2:00 pm this Saturday, May 12 on Connelly Green at Rosemont College.
